Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Report from Chewy

There were 5 Barlickers present for this midweek freebie at Marl Pitts.  I missed the start with the pack already out of the field as I made my way through the funnel.  It was a bit of a novelty bobbing and weaving past folk on the narrow path which goes on for about the first mile. I passed Rachel Lowther about a mile in who has taken to copying my shorts. Then John 'race machine' Boothman, who seemed shocked to see me.  I caught up to Andy Berry next who was stalking Shaun in the battle of the chairman.  Once past Shaun I'd passed about 120 runners and started trying to reel the front runners in.

It was the first round of the English champs fell season on Saturday and due to the road relays we only had Virgil Barton in attendance. That being said, Virgil put in a cracking performance in a stacked field, finishing 41st in 1.45.56. The race was run by Tom Addison of Helm Hill in a fierce descent to the finish, when after 14 miles of running, there was only a minute between the top 6.

1 Tom Addison(Helm Hill) 1.33.28
41 Virgil Barton 1.45.56

Stephen Shorrocks is a man in form and is getting closer to the front every week. He was our sole runner in this race and finished 5th.

5 Stephen Shorrock 58:25

3 Craig Shearer 33:39
81 Paul Elcock 44:01

The men for the first time entered two teams into the northern 12 stage. The A team was the strongest we've fielded but were still missing a couple due to injuries.
With this we were looking to break into the top 10 for the first time in the clubs short history. Tom Corrigan and John Whiteside got the mens team under way on the super fast 1st leg and both ran well. Tom ran the fastest Barlick long leg on the day against the big boys. The A team were 20th after leg 1 and the B team were 42nd. Marc Hartley started cutting through the field with the fastest short leg of the day and pulled the A team up to 12th, Dan Balshaw just recovering from injury lost a few places for the B team.
