This race marked the start of the club road championship. The weather was very wet before the start, but luckily, the rain held off whilst the race was in progress. However, it was very windy. The first 4K is a climb, which is quite steep in places, but at least it means that the second half of the race is mostly downhill.
114 Richard Starkie 47:08 PB
192 Paul Fryers 51:40
216 Rachel Lowther 53:48
350 Abigail Park 1:06:06
There was a good turn out of Barlickers for this race in what could be the key race to secure promotion.
In the ladies race, Sarah Tipler had a cracking run to finish in 5th place. In view of the conditions, probably the best choice of foot wear was spikes and had Sarah been wearing spikes, it is not inconceivable that she could have finished 4th or even 3rd.
In the men's race, there were plenty of Barlick vests on display. Nick Treitl set off at a fast pace and was in the top ten, with Jimmy Craig not far behind him. Closely following those two was V40 Lucas Payne, who can always be counted upon to put in a doughty performance. As always with the cross country group, there was a strong team spirit and everyone put in a great performance resulting in the team finishing in 5th place out of all four divisions. This was without counting Jimmiy Craig who for some reason was missing off the provisional results. The places for the Barlickers were:
10 Nick Treitl 35:24
21 Jimmy Craig 35:55 ?
37 Lucas Payne 37:56
51 Dan Taylor 39:29
55 Andy Berry 39:44
65 Shaun Chew 40:20
83 Stuart Bryan 41:36
97 Andy Carson 42:54
110 Derek Walkden 43:52
136 James Fent 46:11
It would appear that the team will have secured the maximum 10 points for this race and with it, promotion to the third division for next season.
Scott Baistow was our only representative in this race and he finished 3rd U23, in 71st place overall, in a time of 4:13:10.
173 starters.
20 Michael ALEXANDER 28:43
107 Graham WADSWORTH 36:04
The ever youthful Ian Holmes likes to race and he was out on the fells last night showing the rest of the contenders, in this night event, the way to the summit, round the tops and back.
Our sole representative, Glenn Whittaker finished a little behind Ian in 23rd position, with a time of 45:21
This is a short race of 4.5 miles with 1220 ft of ascent, set in the North Yorkshire Moors. A couple of steep ascents account for most of the climb with some rough terrain, but it is mostly decent paths with a long muddy track, of a mile or so, downhill to the finish. Richard Treitl entered the race and being a cold, but sunny day, he paused, perhaps for a little too long, to take in the panoramic views of North Yorkshire Moors.
113 Richard Treitl 67:25
123 finishers.
4 Derek WALKDEN 23:02
37 James STEAD 33:49
105 Charlotte PERRY 32:38 New PB
125 Graham WADSWORTH 35:29 New PB
133 Patricia WADSWORTH 38:03 New PB
The weather did ease slightly for this race, which is a nice run that is part road and park paths. This was not a day for a PB, but our sole representative was happy enough with his run.
51 John Boothman 42:32
292 finishers.
The team prize was won by Trawden.
A boggy day out for everyone who took part in this race. The winner was Sam Watson of Wharfedale.

The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
