Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Liver Hill - 28 March 2017

Report from Chewy

There were 5 Barlickers present for this midweek freebie at Marl Pitts.  I missed the start with the pack already out of the field as I made my way through the funnel.  It was a bit of a novelty bobbing and weaving past folk on the narrow path which goes on for about the first mile. I passed Rachel Lowther about a mile in who has taken to copying my shorts. Then John 'race machine' Boothman, who seemed shocked to see me.  I caught up to Andy Berry next who was stalking Shaun in the battle of the chairman.  Once past Shaun I'd passed about 120 runners and started trying to reel the front runners in.

At the turn I was about 8th and for a change decided to descend like a man. I caught the next 3 quite quickly but got bogged down at the stiles.  I moved up to 3rd just before the return to Marl Pitts but my grip on the 212s duly deserted me as I closed in on 2nd.  To my surprise a young chap from Rossy Harriers skipped by me down the steep mudslide and I couldn't close the gap to the finish.  Miffed I didn't make the start, but it wasn't a bad nights work.  Shaun made the top 10 and Andy Berry was 15th which will hopefully give him some confidence going forward.

4 Stephen Chew 36:14
10 Shaun Chew 37:50
15 Andy Berry 38:48
38 John Boothman 43:42
95 Rachel Lowther 54:34
