Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. It was a pleasant sunny evening for this race, maybe a bit too warm for ideal running conditions, but it nevertheless attracted 218 entrants.

The race was easily won by Chris Holdsworth who built up a good lead on the ascent and he ran out an easy winner.  He was followed home by Tom Corrigan, running his second race in two days and he too had a comfortable lead over third placed Adam Wale.  With four runners in the top ten, Barlick easily won the team prize.

In the ladies race, Laura Hesketh had a long lead over the chasing pack and took the honours without any difficulty.  It was good to see Jacqueline Collins get rewarded for all her recent hard work by taking third place and she was closely followed home by Lucy Brown.  Rossendale won the team prize.

The Barlickers finished as follows:

Men's Race
2 Thomas Corrigan 30:50 (1st M40)
5 Julian Hood 32:56 (2nd M45)

Tom Corrigan is back racing and is getting back to his old form.  He was the only Barlicker in this race, but he comfortably took first place.

Good to see some juniors out racing and they finished as follows:

U9
5 Jude Mirfield 2:31

U11
9 Theo Mirfield 12:07
13 Bradley Robinson 14:10

It was a very pleasant day out on the fells, although maybe a bit warm for the runners.  The race was won by Oli Murphy who built up an early lead and never looked under threat even though there were good runners in his wake.  Leading Barlick home was David Mirfield with a top five finish followed by Ian Cocks who just got pipped to a top ten place.

Again our girls put on a good show taking positions 3,4,5 in the ladies race.

It was nice to see the club having some runners in the junior races and their details can be found on the Junior Website
