Pendle Cloughs - 3 May 2014

Rachel Lowther Wins the Ladies Race

This year, the race was won by Charlie McIntosh of Pudsey & Bramley in a time of 2:20:37, whist Rachel took the ladies race, improving on her time last year by over 21 minutes.

In the first part of the race, there was nothing to choose between the first three runners, who drew away from the rest of the pack, but as the race developed, Stephen Chew did not adhere to his original navigational plan and as a result of this, the two lead runners pulled away from him and he found himself caught by the next two chasing runners.  However, on the run in, he managed to out pace these two and secure third place.

In the ladies race, Rachel Lowther went off steadily and appeared to judge the pace of the race well managing to hold on to her lead and finish just in front of Kerrie Bretherton of Trawden.

The field was much reduced this year,  suffering from the clash with the Championship Race at Coniston
