As a running club, we like to encourage youngsters of all ages to take part in the sport. It is good healthy exercise in the open air and it also breeds mental toughness. We have a team of trainers and fully qualified coaches who will help your child to fulfill his or her potential. We hold regular training sessions on Monday. The children are not pushed, but are encouraged to participate and they will never be moved up to the next level until their coach has assessed them. Unlike some sports, where you may not be able to take part as you are deemed not good enough to get into the team, with running, everyone can take part regardless of ability. The only thing we ask is that all our juniors take their training seriously and that they regularly enter races. No youngster will be asked to take part in a race until their coach is happy that they are up to a standard of fitness which will enable them to take part.
If you would like your child to join our club, please first of all contact Nick Treitl who is in overall charge of junior training. His details can be found on our Contacts Page. There is a high demand to join the club at a junior level and we do not want to become inundated with so many juniors that we cannot cope.
Junior members under the age of 16 must at all times be accompanied by their parent, guardian or other adult nominated by them and will be responsible for their welfare, safety and behaviour.
Parents or guardians will also be fully responsible for the welfare, safety and behaviour of junior members over the age of 16.
The annual junior membership fee is £5. Membership runs to the end of the year from when it becomes renewable annually. If you are an experienced runner and wish to coach your own child, then that is all that you need to pay, but if you would like your child to attend our weekly training sessions, there is also a monthly charge of £4.00, payable by standing order. The membership application, includes the standing order form.
