Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This race was first run in 1981.  Peter Jebb designed the course and for the first twenty years, he organised it.  He gave up doing so because he had other commitments in June and his friend Alan Greenwood of Calder Valley, himself a regular race organiser, took it on for a further five years.  He then passed it on to the present race organiser Graham Wadsworth and a result, this classic fell race joined the portfolio of races organised by Barlick Fell Runners.

This year, both Pete Jebb and Alan Greenwood were having a day out and they went out of their way to stop off at the race.  It was nice to see them both there.  Alan took a short video of the race which he has now put on You Tube.

A brilliant run by Rachel Lowther saw her finish second lady and only a couple of seconds off coming first.  Lucy Beresford also had a good run finishing 4th lady.

64 Lucy Beresford 57:17 (4th lady)

Young Harley Treitl and his dad Nick were out in this race.  Positions and results follow as soon as they are available from Wharfedale Harriers.

A couple of Barlickers were at this race:

64 Lee Edwards 38:43
88 Jean Rawinson 42:13

112 finishers.

There would have been a third Barlicker there, but John Boothman was late getting away from work and did not make it on time.  He therefore had to make do with a training run on part of the Calderdale Way.;

Good run from Chris Smedley overlooked from last weekend:

3 Chris SMEDLEY 21:07

There was a good turnout for this race with 103 finishers, including 9 Barlickers.  The race winner was Mark McGoldrick in 55:46 who had an easy win over 2nd place V50 Neil Holding who finished in 60:01.  Andrew Driver led the Barlickers home.
