Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Due to the large dumping of snow Thursday into Friday the original route had to be changed for a shorter course but which still allowed for the race to go ahead. Having said that the race was still just over 20 miles long with around 3000ft of climbing and a lot of snow!

This is a tough energy sapping race through bogs and mud, but at least this year, the weather was good.  A good run by David Mirfield saw him take a podium place and good run by his team mate saw them both take a top ten finish.

There are two races on the day.  A 30 mile and a 45 mile.

30 Mile Race

Lucy Brown and Lorraine Slater ran this race together.  Lorraine was not feeling her best half way round and Lucy could have pressed on and taken first place herself, but they stuck together and Lucy sportingly allowed her team mate to get over the line first.  A good one - two for Barlick.  Not only that, but behind them, Kerrie Bretherton was also putting on a good show, coming home in 4th place.

45 Mile Race

Jason Goodworth had a good run to finish 17th overall.  John Boothman did not go for the shorter race, even though he could have been forgiven for doing so as he only recently completed the gruelling Winter Spine Race.  However, he put in a good performance despite the fact that his legs were playing up and finishing 2nd FV60
