Chris Singleton last year stepped up to the Ultra distances and did so with distinction winning 2 races, the first being his 1st ever ultra outing at Howarth Hobble. As well as competing on the road where he set the club record for the marathon and cross country, picking up his first Lancashire vest, he has added an England vest to his collection. He has been called up to run in the Anglo Celtic Plate, which is a race run over either 50k or 100k. It's a great achievement and well deserved for his hard work and dedication to his sport. It's even more impressive when you realise he has 3 young children, as well as having a very good athlete for a wife in Christina Singleton who runs for Trawden AC.
Good runs today from Daniel Balshaw to finish in 5th position and to lead the Barlickers home and from Hannah Newbold to finish 1st U18 girl. She was also 1st Under 23 woman. Full Barlick positions are:
5 Daniel Balshaw 36:30
11 Andy Berry 37:40
17 Andrew Chew 38:28
35 Andrew Driver 41:07
40 Des Walkden 42:28

Sam Wadsworth was our only representative in this race and he reported on it as follows:
The race was very well organised and marshalled with the results printed off before some people had managed to get served at the bar, (the bar service was a little slow tho). Really stiff legs caused by the steep road decent makes it difficult to recommend an ideal shoe but Mudclaws are definitely not the way forward should anyone chose to do this race next year.
2 Lee PARRINGTON 17:56
Because of the weather, this year the race was run over The Stoop course.
The winner was Tom Adams in 31:14. Sam Wadsworth, on his first solo run out for quite some time finished just outside the top ten and Andy Berry also had a good run, despite his cracking run in the cross country yesterday, finished just outside the top twenty.

It was good to see some of our new youngsters out in these races. For many, this was their first taste of racing and they can only get better. Great performance from Eliot Phillps to finish in 9th place and lead the U11 boys team home.
It was a great performance too from our ladies. New Barlicker Kelly Whiteside was leading them round with Jen Hird not far behind and Lorraine Slater not far behind those leading two. However, showing some of that great Slater determination, Lorraine fought her way in front of the other two to lead them home and those three finished as a real team pack in consecutive positions, finishing third team out of all the divisions, but first in Division Three, ensuring promotion next season.
We had out a bit of a depleted men's team, but those who turned out did the business, finishing first team in Division Two and thus ensuring promotion next year to division one.The B team also did well, and are now leading Division Four. The vets team are currently second in Division Four.
