Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Arncliffe Gala, Junior Races - 11 August 2018

Written by

Another good turn out from the juniors on this very hot day.   Jack Villiers ran a great race to finish 3rd in the U17 race.  In the U14 Race Ciara Duffy had a good run to finish 8th girl.  The U12 race was won by Jacob Reeday - what a season he has had.  He  must surely go on to take home the boy's U12 title now, a real star of the future.   Lucille Pickles carried on her fine form to finish 11th overall & 2nd girl . Harvey Treitl, Garth Duffy, Jody Whitfield, Lily-Grace Clayton, & Chloe Boothman all ran very well in the hot conditions.   It is good to see so many Barlick Vests in the field at the moment, a force to be reckoned with in the future perhaps.

A good turnout from our juniors for this night event..  There were some great performances all round with a few notching up first places.  The Under Nine race was interesting.  The first four places were all taken by girls, so Harry Driver finished 5th overall, yet he won the boys race.   Is this a sign of things to come?   It was good to see Oscar Clayton take a podium position in this race.

Alva Games Junior Races - 14 July 2018

Written by

Six Juniors made the trip up to Scotland for The 162nd Alva Games. With the hot weather lately, it made a very steep race even more trickier as the mountain was very dry and dusty. A few pre race nerves after the recce soon disappeared as a brilliant run from Harley Treitl brought him home in 2nd place. A few worried looks before the start didn't stop Lucille Pickles storming home in 7th place after a fantastic run, to take the 1st girl prize. Next in for Barlick was Jody Whitfield finishing 4th girl, just missing out on a spot on the podium. Evie Scott made the small trip from Dunblane to represent her hometown club once more, to finish 7th girl after going nearly 8 months without a hill race. Lily-Grace Clayton rounded off the girls with a great effort to finish 9th girl, followed by her brother Oscar Clayton, who put in a fantastic effort to finish 29th overall after been unable to get up the hill on the recce.
