Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. The conditions were good for this race, although perhaps it was a little too warm to call them ideal.  Grant Cunliffe of Rossendale had a cracking run out and had a good lead at the summit, where unfortunately, he made a wrong turn.  By the time he realised this, his lead had been lost and he dropped out of the race.  If he had continued on the correct route, the probability is that he would have won the race.

However, Grant's misfortune was David Mirfield's lucky break and he took advantage of this to run out the race winner, with V45 Paul Crabtree hot on his heals.  Third home was Jordan McDonald from Clayton.  Sam Wadsworth was next and first Barlicker and he led home a train of Barlickers, which ensured that Barlick took the team prize.

In the women's race, Sarah Tipler showed that she is rapidly regaining her old form and she was first woman, finishing 11th overall.  Second woman home was Lorraine Slater, another Barlicker who is returning from injury and she was naturally first W45.  The third woman was the ever improving Autumn Howard of Trawden AC.  Leanne Dinsdale was the 4th woman home ensuring that the Barlick women took the team prize too.

The early news is that Andy Berry had another good race to lead the Barlickers home in 3rd place, with Carl Pawson a couple of places behind.

Karen Brindle had a cracking run to finish first woman with Hannah Watson 2nd.

3 Andy Berry 31:26
7 Carl Pawson 33:02
27 Karen Brindle 39:47
33 Hannah Watson 40:47

Sorry for the delay with this one, but the results have only just been published.  Tim Piggot once again entered this 36 mile race with 10,000 ft of climbing.   This year he ran it with Tim Couldwell and they completed it in 10:57:44., finishing in 79th position out of 110 starters.

Ted Mason won the race.  Only two Barlickers there, but a top ten finish for Andrew Chew and 2nd LV40 for Lorraine Slater.

10 Andrew Chew 55;46
50 Lorraine Slater 1:04:26

Due to many choosing not to go up to Blencathra on Wednesday there will be a pub run up Penyghent instead. Meeting at 7pm from the first lay-by just before the Golden Lion Pub and then heading up the race route. We shall then meet in the Talbot in Settle afterwards for a few drinks.

Another fine win for Tom Adams of Ilkley who set a new course record of 38:44 and finished over two minutes in front of 2nd place Matthew John.

The junior results are not yet available.

Carl Bell easily won this race with a nine minute lead over second place Morgan Donnelly.    Against a strong field, Andy Berry was first Barlicker home in 26th place.  It was a close race between Angela Donlan and Jen Hird, with Angela just shading it, to lead the Barlick ladies home.

The next race in the BOFRA calendar was Coniston Gullies. Jimmy Craig once again put in a strong performance but had to settle for second behind another top class runner Simon Bailey with Chris Edis 3rd.

Richard Lowther also took part, wearing a Barlick vest for a change, and this must have inspired him to get running and finish in front of his sister Kirsty.

2 Jimmy Craig 14:40
15 Richard Lowther 18:02

1 Jacob Boyle 18.19

This trial took place in Winlatter Forest in the Lake District in which the top young under 18 athletes from all over the UK took part.  Young Josh Boyle had a good race to finish in third place and hopefully, this will be good enough to see him earn a Great Britain vest to run in the Arco International Race in Italy in July.   The results of the deliberations of the selectors will be know in about a weeks's time, so in the meantime, it is fingers crossed for Josh.
