Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. A few Barlickers turned out for this race:

Nick Treitl 37:23
Mark Sandamas 37:27
Andrew Carson 41:06 (PB)
John Boothman 43:04 (PB)
Michael Thistlethwaite 43:33 (PB)
Des Walkden 44:30
Charlotte Treitl 1:06:13 (PB)

Seeing that Andy Holden is at present unattached and therefore has no club web site to champion his running feats, we thought that we would step in. He entered this race as 'Sumo' with the sole object of not coming last.

As things turned out, he finished 113rd out of 144. Not bad for an old 'un.

Two Barlickers turned out on Boxing Day for this race:

40 Andy Berry 31:13
71 Michael Thistlethwaite 34:44

Mick Plummer and Nick Treitl fancied a go in this one. It is the usual mountain marathon format, that is, you have to collect points by visiting various check points which have varying values depending on difficulty in reaching or locating.

They came 122nd out of 169 and by their own admission, they are very much on a learning curve with this type of event. But they enjoyed it and they look forward to taking part in similar events next year.

The race was won by Tom Adams of Ilkley and was closely followed home by Rob Hope of Pudsey & Bramley and Sam Tosh of Rossendale.

Shaun Chew had the honour of being the first person to run for the club and he came home in 15th place in a time of 36:03.
