Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This is a favourite race for John Boothman and this year, he did it with his youngest daughter Chloe, whilst at the same time raising money for the Alzheimer’s society.  Chloe worked until late on the Saturday night, with the pair arriving in South Shields at 2:00 am.  That coupled with John carrying a niggling knee injury and Chloe doing less than adequate training was not the best preparation for the race, but they called for help from the Almighty via one of the local clergy and that seemed to do the trick and they had a great race, both finishing together as planned.  If anyone wishes to support their chosen charity, they can do so at https://ajbellgreatnorthrun2025.enthuse.com ...

Four Barlickers went up for this challenging race.  David Mirfeld had a good run to finish in 34th position and comfortably under the two hour mark.  Julian Hood, donning his Barlick vest, also had a good run and frustratingly fell outside of the the two hour window by just three seconds.  Further down the field, Lucy Brown chose this race to make her comeback after recent injury.  She battled all the way round trying to beat the cut off times, but she stuck to the job in hand and was rewarded by getting a finish time and a treasured tee shirt.  Well done to everyone who took part.  This is one tough race.

Amongst his peers, he takes some beating and yet another speedy performance from Raymond Banks saw him finish 23rd overall in this race and once more 1st M70.
