Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Gosh.  Is it already that time of the year again when everyone heads up to Scotland to do battle on "The Ben"?

That amazing athlete Finlay Wild took the honours again.  The thirteen Barlickers finished as follows:

19 David Mirfield  1:54:37
31 Jimmy Craig 1:57:44
46 Nick Treitl 2:03:09
81 David Poole 2:11:43
87 Stephen Shorrock 2:13:25
232 John Boothman 2:39:26
246 Helen Harrison 2:41:52
254 Andrew Smith 2:43:47
263 Emma Taylor 2:44:52
375 Hannah Newbold 3:14:12
385 Lucy Brown 3:17:05
404 Katie Towers 3:30:51
419 Jacqueline Collins 3:43:25

41 Raymond Banks 21:59 PB

27 Toby Nixon 24:21
57 Lily Nixon 25:59

2 Robert Cranham 20:17
13 Peter Jackson 24:55 PB

60 Hannah Newbold 25:42

3 Robert Cranham 18:47

The 500th running of this race saw a record number of 797 participants. The Barlickers finished as follows:

6 Ben WHitehead 17:36
95 Ian Cocks 22:25
103 Raymond Banks 22:31 PB
234 John Wadsworth 26:09
329 Mark Wadsworth 28:14

This is a cracking little race with a length of 5 miles and ascent of 900 ft.There is little wonder therefore that it attracted 206 entrants.

Just one Barlicker turned out who just managed a top ten finish.

10 David Poole 43:44 (2nd MV40)

New member Raymond Banks is no slouch when it comes to quick races.  He is a V70 and he still completed this 5K in 22:34.

28 Raymond Banks 22:34 (1st V70)

It was business as usual at Gargave show with the horse jumping running over time which delayed the start of the fell race, with the seniors having to patiently wait until all the junior races had been completed.

Just three Barlickers turned out for this race with Robert Cranham leading them home in 6th place.  James Wadsworth had come over from Italy for his holiday and he entered this race for old time's sake and managed a top twenty finish despite a complete lack of race fitness.  Another with a lack of race fitness was Glenn Whittaker but he also put in a tidy performance for his first outing on the fells for some time.
