Report by John Boothman
I have to say it was a big day. We left at 7.15, about 2.5 hour drive, then near 6 hours running and then the drive home. It is the toughest race I have done to date. Stephen Shorrock set off well but the distance and climb took its toll and he lost time in the second half but still finished first Barlicker.

The race was won by Julian Hood of Skipton AC in a time of 38:01. Andy Collins had a cracking run to finish in third place and as first Barlicker. Andy had a very determined run and was chasing down second place Neil Crompton of Pudsey & Bramley on the long run in from the second visit to the Sharp Haw summit, but he could not quite catch him. Further down the field, Pete Jackson looked to be going well and so it proved as he romped home first V60.
There were quite a few of our girls out in this race and it was good to see so many of our women members getting out to support. They were led home by Laura Craig who ihad a good race to improve on her time of last year by seven minutes. Jean Rawlinson always seems to defy her age when she gets out on the fells and she came home first F65. Amanda Haynes and Lucy Creasey are two recent recruits to running and both did well in this race. It was, in fact, Lucy's first ever fell race. She picked a tough one to start with, but she rose to the challenge and put in a great performance that left seven other runners in her wake.
