Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Membership fees for the club are as follows:

  • For members over the age of 18
  • £10/year
  • For runners of all abilities over the age of 18
  • For runners participating in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road running
  • Regular training and coaching sessions provided

  • Juniors
  • For members under the age of 18
  • FREE
  • For runners of all abilities under the age of 18.
  • Regular (weekly) training sessions led by experienced runners/coaches
  • Advice about how to train properly so juniors can develop as athletes

Mid Lancs Cross Country League, Barrow - 15 November 2014

The results are now out for this meeting and make good reading for those who made the long journey to Barrow.  The men's team were second overall out of all four divisions and have once more secured maximum points towards the target of the division three championship.

The ladies' team were 10th overall and secured maximum points in the third division and they are now leading their table.

Whinlatter Duathlon - 16 November 2014

Three club members went up to Whinlatter to do an off road Duathlon.  David Poole and Charlie Murgytroyd competed as a relay pair with Charlie running (Dave is struggling to run at the moment). They came 7th out of 27 relay pairs. They had a laugh all day, the highlight being when David came back from his ride to find Charlie was missing. After shouting his name, he found him in the back of the car with his feet up.  Luckily he ran well and redeemed himself. 
Lee Edwards also raced but he was solo. It is is tough solo course and Lee did himself and the club proud finishing 42nd out of 177 with a time of 2:25:55. The course is 6.5k run/18k mountain bike/5.5k run.

Cyclists v Harriers - 15 November 2014

This year, the event was won by cyclist Rob Jebb who set a new course record of 35:43.  First lady was a harrier, Victoria Wilkinson, who also set a new course record of 40:07.

Mid Lancs Cross Country League, Barrow - 15 November 2014

We had both ladies and men's teams out at Barrow, and as at Hyndburn, both put in great performances. 

Sarah Tipler finished in 3rd place overall and should have been second, but took a wrong route.  She was supported by Jen Hird and Leanne Dinsdale and hopes are high for a third division first place.

In the men's race, the Barlickers were led home by Stephen Chew in 6th place overall, followed by Chris Singleton, Marc Hartley and Ian Livesey.  It is difficult to judge where the team came overall, but they should have secured maximum points in division three.

A good turnout of Barlickers at this event, but sadly no details of finishing positions.  The only news so far is that Luke Maude led the Barlickers home.
