Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. John Boothman completed his second marathon in a week and Raymond Banks put in a great performance in the V70-74 category.

This is John's account of his day.

It was very cold pre race but thankfully dry.  The cool temperature was a bonus once we got running. The pace was perfect and I was really enjoying the support along the route. As I rounded the corner to go over Tower Bridge, the crowd was massive and very loud.  Right in the middle of the bridge, with no warning, I felt a painful twang in my right calf and was immediately in pain and limping badly. I stopped and took some pain killers and applied some ibuprofen gel then set off at a very steady hop. The pain subsided once the meds took effect but I limped the rest of the way to the finish. Another amazing experience and great to have family support along the route although I think they worked harder than me battling the crowds. Then straight back to change and off to see ABBA Vantage which was amazing, then out for a meal. A full on day with family and friends.  What could be better?

It was much better weather conditions for this race and another top performance from Jimmy Craig saw him hold off challenges from Tom Adams and Michael Malyon to take his second Bunny Run victory.

This win makes Jimmy the Series Champion in front of Mitchell Boocock of Pudsey & Bramley and Alexander Wolfenden of Ilkley Harriers.

This will be from the Anchor at Salterforth.  Be there for 7:00 pm.  This is a social event and unattached runners or runners from other clubs are welcome to join us.

John Boothman flew to the United States especially for this race and in his own words, this is how the race panned out.

it was a  very tough day for me in this race.  I set off OK and was on schedule until around half way i when I stared suffering with an upset stomach. I had to jog /walk the second half, carried along by the most amazing support from the very loud crowds, the likes of which I have never experienced anywhere - just brilliant.  The weather was warmer than I expected which didn't help and I have never seen so many people in trouble along the way.
I stopped about 100 metres from the finish line to help a girl who couldn't move with cramps.  Don't ask me why I did it when I was struggling myself but that's what runners  do.
I think the adrenalin at the finish gave me a false boost for collecting my medal, getting some good pictures and chatting to some fellow Brits.
Shortly after this, as I walked to meet Angela, I felt dreadful and had to lie down under a tree feeling very sick. A concerned off duty policeman looked after me and then handed me over to the fire service who were nearby.  They whisked off to spend a couple of hours in the medical tent, which was packed with runners in trouble.
I think that it is nothing more than a bad reaction to a meal we had the night before and was made worse by the exertion and heat.  I had drunk lots of water along the route. Still feeling a bit nauseous today but will be fine soon.

Overall, a brilliant day just spoiled a little with my unfortunate condition
