This event put on by Ted Mason seems to becoming more and more popular and this year, it attracted 195 entrants, including names we do not seem to have seen around for a while, like the evergreen Norman Bush and Paul Harlow.
The competition is between cyclists and runners and this year, the honours went to Barlick Member, David Mirfield who was competing as part of Hope Factory Racing. "Smithy" also took part on his bike and he still ended up in his usual 1st M60 position. Ther only Barlicker to keep his feet on the ground was Karl Nevison who finished in 28th place and 18th runner.
The event concluded by hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes in the barn, followed by the presentation in the local pub.

Race organiser Nick Small decided to rename this race in memory of his friend and former Barlick member, Chris Smale, which was a very nice gesture of a very good fell runner and extremely nice person.
Two Barlickers shook off the after effects of the New Year's Eve celebrations and both were rewarded by a top ten finish, with the evergreen Gary Shaw leading them home.
