A good turnout of Barlickers in this event and only Paul Oldham of Trawden, finishing third, broke the train of the four Barlickers as the front of the field. Nevertheless, five Barlickers in the top ten is not a bad result, particularly as further down the field, Jacqueline Collins finished third lady. It was nip and tuck at the front of the field with Dave Mirifield just shading it over David Poole. However, good racing from the pair.
1 David Mirifield 40:47
2 David Poole 40:54
4 Andrew Collins 44:10
5 Shaun Chew 44:33
7 Andy Berry 45:08
15 Carl Pawson 48:33
16 James Austin 48:50
24 Jacqueline Collins 52:45 (3rd lady)
35 Zac Kaye 55:43
67 Cloey Mason 64:08

125?? John Boothman 2:36:16??

John Boothman does not appear in the results although there is photographic evidence of him finishing the race. Pending the race organisers sorting out this issue, his results, as above are provisional.

The only Barlicker entered was Gary Bradley. 300 started this race, but only 286 finished. The conditions were good, except there was a headwind on the first and last quarters of the route. By the same yardstick, there was a nice tailwind in the other half of the race.
132 Gary Bradley 3:53:30
Another cracking run from Ian, to finish second in this race and also from Gaz Shaw who finished first V45. The conditions were quite warm, despite the 7:30 start. The seafront front from the birthplace of Aphrodite to Paphos was in to a headwind, so pretty tough.
2 Ian Livesey 2:42:29
11 Gary Shaw 3:08:11 (1st V45)
60 Dan Taylor 3:36:30
Zac Kaye took part in this race. The course a 5k off-road run, then a 20k road bike followed another 5k off road run. He finished in 29th place, with the following times.

This race is always a challenge, particularly as it takes place at this time of the year. Last year, it was the Beast from the East. This year it was gale force winds coupled with driving rain. The race itself is enough of a challenge without those extra handicaps. We had two runners take part. John Boothman, the hero of the Spine Race and Lucas Payne, the legend of the Iron Man competitions. John completed the race, although it took him two hours longer than last year and Lucas pulled out. The following is an account from each runner about an extremely tough and challenging day.
Two firsts for Barlick
This race was run in atrocious conditions in the morning and first home was Rory Harris, an unattached runner, in 4:22:59. Not far behind him was Ian Livesey & Nick Treitl who put in a cracking performance to finish second overall and 1st in the pairs section. Another terrific performance from Ben Hoyle and Lorraine Slater saw them finish first mixed pairs.
Emma Taylor finished 2nd lady and Pete Jackson was 1st V60.
2 Nick Treitl & Ian Livesey 4:24:01 (1st Pair)
15 Stephen Shorrock 4:56;52
29 Lorraine Slater & Ben Hoyle 5:06:30 (1st Mixed Pair)
31 Andy Berry 5:07:01
72 Pete Jackson 5:45:26 (1st V60)
80 Emma Taylor 5:51:26 (2nd lady)
