A good turnout of Barlickers in this event and only Paul Oldham of Trawden, finishing third, broke the train of the four Barlickers as the front of the field. Nevertheless, five Barlickers in the top ten is not a bad result, particularly as further down the field, Jacqueline Collins finished third lady. It was nip and tuck at the front of the field with Dave Mirifield just shading it over David Poole. However, good racing from the pair.

The only Barlicker entered was Gary Bradley. 300 started this race, but only 286 finished. The conditions were good, except there was a headwind on the first and last quarters of the route. By the same yardstick, there was a nice tailwind in the other half of the race.
132 Gary Bradley 3:53:30
8 Emma Taylor 21:13
21 Harley Treitl 23:32
27 Connor Fitzpatrick 24:22 New PB
104 Amber Muller 28:23
105 Nicola Muller 28:25
Another cracking run from Ian, to finish second in this race and also from Gaz Shaw who finished first V45. The conditions were quite warm, despite the 7:30 start. The seafront front from the birthplace of Aphrodite to Paphos was in to a headwind, so pretty tough.
2 Ian Livesey 2:42:29
11 Gary Shaw 3:08:11 (1st V45)
60 Dan Taylor 3:36:30
A great run and a PB for Rachel Villiers in this race.

This race is always a challenge, particularly as it takes place at this time of the year. Last year, it was the Beast from the East. This year it was gale force winds coupled with driving rain. The race itself is enough of a challenge without those extra handicaps. We had two runners take part. John Boothman, the hero of the Spine Race and Lucas Payne, the legend of the Iron Man competitions. John completed the race, although it took him two hours longer than last year and Lucas pulled out. The following is an account from each runner about an extremely tough and challenging day.
John Boothman
Ian Cocks took part in this race which is a 5K run, a 27K bike ride and then another 5K run. He finished in 24th place, with the following times.
Pos | Name | Run 1 | T1 | Bike | T2 | Run2 | Total |
24 | Ian Cocks | 19:32 | 1.26 | 57:43 | 1.11 | 21:02 | 1:40:54 |
Just two Barlickers out in this race - Virgil for the men and Molly for the women.
