Some of the Barlick juniors are made of tough stuff and for half of those at this event, it was their second race of the day. Not that you would have known looking at the results, with six podium finishes, two of them being firsts. It was particularly pleasing to see Oscar Clayton being one of them. He has persisted with his running and done plenty of racing and it is good to see that this is starting to pay off.

The results for all juniors over the age of eight are all clumped together and it is difficult to sort out the age category for each individual runner. All we can say is that Garth Duffy finished the 2nd 10 year old boy in a time of 10:28 and Ciara Duffy finished 2nd 13 year old girl in a time of 10:39.
On this Bank Holiday Monday, there is a great atmosphere in the lovely dales village of Austwick with its street market and entertainers and makes a great back drop for the series of junior fell races.
There were a couple of podium finishes for the few juniors who turned out and they were both in the U11 race. Bella McCredie finished second girl and Will Pease was third boy.

Great results for our youngsters in these races, with Logan McCredie and Michael Rigg-Moya coming away with outright wins and a 2nd place for Bella McCredie. The two other girls, Isabella Barrett and Isabelle Teal, narrowly missed a podium position, both finishing 4th.

There were prizes galore for the Barlick juniors in these races where everyone seemed to do exceptionally well. The under 9 boys set the tone for the day, taking the first three places in the first race. Then the U11 boys took 2nd and 3rd in their race. Following on from them were firsts for Lucille Pickles & Jack Villiers. But good performances all round. This group of youngsters is starting to mature.

This was the Lancashire Fell Championship Race and what a day it turned out to be. Two Lancahire Fell Running Champions in the club. And both from the same family. Young Betsy Pickles was first off in the U9 race where she finished 2nd girl. Luckily for her, the first finisher was not a Lancastrian so she took the championship place.
Then her sister took part in the U13 race. She not only came home in first place, but she came home with a good margin over 2nd place Libby Rickerby.
Finally, in the U17 race, Jack Villiers came home in third place and as a result, he earned a Lancashire Vest and will represent his county in the Inter Counties Fell Championship in June.
