Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. 243 runners toed the line for this flat out and back 10K on the cycle paths in Lancaster on a dry warm spring morning. A clear win for Lee Parrington with Terry Lonergan a minute faster than on the same course last month.

After a great run last week in the Stan Bradshaw Pendle round, it was back out on the fells again for Lorraine Slater in this challenging 31.7 mile / 4396 ft of climb race.  Lorraine saw off the opposition to finish first lady.  In view of the conditions, most people were slower this year, but Lorraine managed to get a 2 minute PB.  Not only that, but Lorraine led the Barlickers home.

This was the first serious test for Tom Corrigan since his recovery from injury and 7th place is a good result given the quality at the front of the field.

Lorraine Slater was back out on the terrain that she loves and had a great race, finishing 2nd female, behind the brilliant Holly Page of Calder Valley.  She was naturally first V40.

It was great to see our younger runners out in this race with Zac Kaye, Victoria Peel and Hannah Newbold all picking up podium places in their age categories.

As you would expect in a 19 mile race through snow and bogs, there were some big names in the top ten finishers and among them were Barlick runners David Mirfield and Dave Poole.  Their joint superb performances along with that of Ben Hoyle were enough to secure 2nd team prize for Barlick, behind Calder Valley.

The race was won by Carl Bell, who after 19 miles was just 20 seconds in front of Jack Wood of Ilkley.  Special mention should also be made of Sharon Taylor of Helm Hill, who was not only first lady, but finished 12th overall.

The Barlickers finished as follows:

7 David Mirfield 2:57:35
8 David Poole 3:00:49
