John Boothman, Pete Jackson and Glenn Whittaker went over to Chamonix for these races. Glenn entered the 10K race and earned a podium place by finishing third in his age category. He was an impressive 278th out of 1841 starters. Pete and John did the 23K race, which is actually 25K and has some tough climbs on terrain which is very similar to the Lake District. Pete was 5th in his age category and John was 15th. However, they have different age splits to what we are used to. The weather there was hot, the scenery was stunning and it was an amazing experience for all three runners.

The numbers were down this year and the race was reminiscent of races in the 1980s when numbers were much smaller and fell running, although competitive in the race, had a friendly atmosphere amongst the runners both before and after the race.
