Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Well done to all the juniors who entered these races.  Championship races can sometimes be a bit daunting, but they will all will benefit from the experience.  Special mention must go to Lucille Pickles who earned herself a podium place by coming third in the U13 girls race.

60 Oscar Clayton 12:38

24 Lucille Pickles 12:42 (3rd girl)
86 Jody Whitfield 16:35 (31st girl)

Tim Chadwick, Zak Kaye and Ian Livesey (Livers) took the trip to the lakes for this race, which is just under 8 miles and ascent of around 3500ft, taking in Coniston Old Man.  It was a cracking day for a fell race, and clear skies ensured everyone had great views at the top, which were well earned after the lung busting first climb to check point one.

The race always attracts a quality field, yet this did not stop Ian Holmes, the grand old man of fell running, from coming 2nd. This year, the race was part of the Lakes Grand Prix, so increased runners meant that Tim went from 34th last last year to 54th, despite the fact that he was four mins quicker than in 2018. He was just four seconds off his target,

Livers had a casual run out, saying that he was only running to accompany Zak. He came home in at 117th position, having departed ways with Zak a few miles in.

As for Zak, he never mentioned to his companions that he had taken part in the Three Peaks Race last week and not only that, he raced in the mid-week Lothersdale race. Given all of that, he finished in very respectable place of 174.

54 Tim Chadwick 1:30:04
117 Ian Livesey 1:40:07
174 Zac Kaye 1:47:36

312 finishers.

There were prizes galore for the Barlick juniors in these races where everyone seemed to do exceptionally well.  The under 9 boys set the tone for the day, taking the first three places in the first race.  Then the U11 boys took 2nd and 3rd in their race.  Following on from them were firsts for Lucille Pickles & Jack Villiers.   But good performances all round.  This group of youngsters is starting to mature.
