John Boothman has been carrying an injury for a little while now, but he is getting out and trying to work it off. At the weekend, he took part in this race and although he is not there yet, John is hoping that he will soon be back to his old self.

Race organiser Nick Small decided to rename this race in memory of his friend and former Barlick member, Chris Smale, which was a very nice gesture of a very good fell runner and extremely nice person.
Two Barlickers shook off the after effects of the New Year's Eve celebrations and both were rewarded by a top ten finish, with the evergreen Gary Shaw leading them home.

Another cracking run by Matt Watson saw him take on all comers, including men half his age, coming 2nd in this race and deservedly earning himself a Lancashire Vest. Gary Shaw always puts on a good show and he did the same in this race finishing in the top twenty out of a field of over 100.
In the Over 70s race, Raymond Banks came home in 4th place.

Matthew Watson ran a blinder in this race, finishing 3rd overall and 1st Vet 45. Gary Shaw is another who is a remarkable runner for his age, as his Ben Whitehad and all three ended first in their age categories. In view of these superb performances, we finished 2nd Vets team.

Robert Cranham was feeling under the weather, suffering from a bit of a cough, but as sit at home moping, he took part in this race. He was helped with the navigation by team mate David Pease, who knew the course and they came in in 4th and 5th places respectively.
A good run too by Andy Smith who took his customary 1st V60 place.
