Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Barlick Fell Runners dominated at the top of the tables taking 1st and 2nd in the ladies' race and and 2nd and 3rd in the men's races.  Rachel was the the women's series champion and she was pushed all the way by runner up and team mate, Jacqueline Collins.  The Barlick women won prizes throughout all the age categories from F35, F40, F45, F60 and not forgetting the redoubtable Jean Rawlinson who finished 1st W65.  The Barlick top finishers  were:

Men
2 John Cleaver
3 David Mirfield
7 Andrew Collins
15 James Austin

Women
1 Rachel Villiers 1st W35
2 Jacqueline Collins 2nd W35
9 Paula Cullen 3rd F40
14 Cloey Mason 2nd F45
Susan Hird 3rd F60
Jean Rawlinson 1st F65

A great run by Danny Mills saw him split the Ribble Valley pairing of Chris Holdsworth & Matt Lalor and take a well earned 2nd place.   Good supporting runs from his teams mates saw Barlick take three places out of the top ten and five out of the top twenty.

A good turn out of Barlickers for this race.  Joe Dale of Victoria Park Harriers put on a terrific performance to win the race by one and a half minutes.  There were some great performances from the Barlick runners and with four finishers in the top ten, we would have taken the team price, had there been one.

Jacqueline Collins came third in the ladies race and had she not tripped at the finish line, might have finished second.  The were several category prizes for the Barlickers with Andy Berry - 1st M40, Lucas Payne  - 1st M45, Paula Cullen - 1st W40 and Jean Rawlinson - 1st W60.  All in all, a good day out and as a bonus, the rain held off.  Also thanks to Trawden for putting on a well organised, and as always, a friendly event.

This is a lovely race.  It is six miles, but it is quite hard, not because there are any steep hills in it, but because there aren't.    Once you set off, you have to keep running over the 1,100 ft of ascent..

It attracted 192 runners but sadly only one Barlicker - James Austin.  The winner was Luke Turner of Clayton in a time of 40:05.  James put on a good show and finished:

26 James Austin 45:17

Congratulations to Rossendale for putting on a well organised race and for getting the results out so quickly.

114 Nicola Muller 1:10:13
119 Eleanor Moore 1:11:32
120 Susan Hird 1:12:06 (1st W60)

This is a nice little 8.8 mile race with 1099 ft of ascent  and well worth travelling over for.

The race was won by Harry Coates who is a former world triathlon champion and, on the day, he destroyed the opposition, coming home over two minutes ahead of the rest of the field.  However, leading that following pack was young and coming runner U17 runner, Eric Beaumont of Keighley & Craven.

The first lady home was another promising up and coming U17 runner, Emily Jones of Wharfedale Harriers.

5 Tim Chadwick 27:20
6 Jimmy Wright 27:33
7 Stephen Shorrock 28:08 (1st M40)

Despite the effort he put into the Park Run this morning, young Jack Villiers was out again this afternoon, mixing it with the seniors and coming home in 5th place overall and 4th U17 runner.  He was followed home by Chris Smale who was 1st M50 and in 8th place overall and 1st M40 was Scott McCredie.
