This race follows in the tradition of Skyrunning, which consists of uncompromising mountain running, such as scrambling along mountain ridges with steep ascents, traverses and descents on technical and challenging terrain.
This race route incorporates two lofty ridges within the Mamores, including the Devil’s Ridge, which provides a thrilling and airy traverse with Glen Nevis visible ahead and as a yawning drop far below, and Ben Nevis beyond and towering above.
Given this background and the international entry list, Luke Maude had an amazing run to finish in fourth position behind a Norwegian and two Frenchmen to end up first British finisher.
This was an incredible performance of which Luke can be immensely proud.

Lothersdale show fell race is a very old race and many of those all old fell races were quite short and always ran the juniors along with the seniors. Lothersdale has continued with that tradition and it puts a certain amount of pressure on the seniors. The juniors run off from the start at a furious pace, but the hill climb is not long enough to allow the greater stamina of the seniors to gain the advantage. Andy Berry found himself in this invidious position today. He had the beating of those young Turks, Logan Hargreaves-Madhas from Wharfedale and Euan Fraser from Trawden, but not over such a short course. He therefore had to settle for 3rd place. Nick Kendall finished in 7th place, but at least he had the excuse of this being his 3rd race of the day.
3 Andy Berry 12:43 (1st Senior)
7 Nick Kendall 14:15 (3rd Senior)
These were described as road relays, but it turned out on the day that they were held over a trail course. No problem for our girls. Annabel Ralph, Lorraine Slater and Jen Hird had terrific performances coming away with Silver Medals as Second Lancashire Team.
The ladies 'B' Team of Angela Donlan, Emma Bailey & Heather Driver came 6th and the 'C' Team of Hannah Newbold, Paula Clark & Hannah Watson finished 9th.
The men's team comprising Tom Corrigan, Shaun Chew, Lee Parrington & Dan Balshaw came home in 4th position.
The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
