Although they turned out on Saturday for the Mid Lancs Cross Country series, these stalwarts were up for donning their vests again to represent their club in these races. In these quarry runs, all the older age groups run together. Jack Villiers is ever improving and he came home 6th overall and 5th U15. The results below show everyone in their own age categories.
5 James Villiers (U15) 7:08
6 Jenna Boothman GU15) 8:53

It does not seem four years ago that we first joined this league and put a team out in Division Four. We gained promotion that year and in each of the subsequent years and after only four races in this season, we are already Mid Lancs Cross Country Champions. Quite an achievement which says a lot about the team spirit within the club.
But our success is not just confined to the men. After another brilliant performance today from our women left them leading division two, having taken maximum points in every race this season, and they also cannot now be beaten and they are Division Two Champions and assured of promotion to Division One next year. The strength and spirit of the ladies squad is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that the ladies 'B' team is heading Division Three and the ladies V35 team are 2nd, but on equal points with the top club Wigan.
Finally, it was only last year that we started a junior section and yet our U11 boys are leading their league. However, there is more work for them to do finish top at the end of the season.
Great all round individual performances and great team spirit today. The individual finishing positions were:

Great to see one of our juniors already out racing this year. Maddison Parrington went up to Kendal for this opening race of the new Winter League season. In the U13 girls race, she came home in 31st position with a time of 10:18.
It was pretty mild up at Kielder and made for perfect race conditions. David Poole went up on Saturday and camped over with race winner David Murphy and new member Michael Harluow.

A New Year and a new start for Chewy who decided three months ago that this would be his first race back. He knew that it would be a fast and furious race, having done it five years ago. It was quite boggy up to the giants tooth summit. On the approach to the summit, there was a leading group of six, led by Joe Crossfield, who had pulled away from the rest of the pack. Ali Burns from Valley Striders made a decisive break on the descent, taking the lead which he held until the finish. There was only about 40 seconds separating the top 5 which made it a good competitive outing.
This was Shaun & Stephen Chew's first outing since the Calderdale Way relay last May and Stephen is happy being up there again. Shaun had a good run to finish 8th and Nick Kendall also had a good run to finish 27th.
Thanks must go to Ian Lewis and Caren Crabtree for putting on a well organised race.

The aim of the Barlick Fell Runners results service is to list the full results of all events in which our members have been involved and to archive these for future reference. If any have been missed, please let us know.
This race was won by Great Britain International Jonny Brownlee, with Tom Adams of Ilkley not all that far behind in 2nd place. Our sole representative was Julian Hood who finished 9th in this quality field.
